Air Canada will reportedly issue refunds in exchange for bailout
Air Canada has finally backed down and will reportedly give out refunds for cancelled flights. The airline agreed ‘a long time ago’ to offer refunds as long as it secures a bailout. The federal government has always made it clear refunds were a condition of any taxpayer-funded rescue package for Canadian airlines.
Air Canada says talks with the government are still taking place. Bailout funds will also be conditional on protecting jobs and reinstating regional routes to isolated communities.
