Air China has announced the launch of its proposed service linking Chengdu and Sydney for November 11, 2016.
The Chengdu-Sydney route will operate three times weekly on two-class Airbus A330-200 jets with 30 seats in business and 207 in economy.
It marks Air China’s third intercontinental destination from its Chengdu hub after flights to Frankfurt and Paris, and also the first to connect western China and Oceania.
The carrier currently operates 30 flights a week to Australia, from Beijing and Shanghai, and is launching a new Shenzhen-Melbourne route later this year.
Chengdu is China’s fourth biggest source market for air traffic to Australia after Beijing, Shanghai, and Guangzhou.
