Heavy forward bookings on Air New Zealand’s Adelaide to Auckland service pre-Christmas has resulted in the airline trialing a larger 313 seat Boeing 777-200 aircraft on its Friday 22 December service, with the trial equating to a doubling of capacity over the 150 seat Airbus A320 that normally operates the service.
Air New Zealand General Manager Australia, John Harrison said. “We operate larger aircraft on other trans-Tasman routes to meet demand, and it’s exciting to see the beginnings of this occurring in Adelaide”.
Air New Zealand says that it commenced a three times a week service between Adelaide and Auckland just nine months ago and Mr Harrison added, “While this is currently a one-off aircraft up-sizing, it reflects strongly on the demand that exists for services to New Zealand from Adelaide”.
Air New Zealand’s new Boeing 777-200 aircraft also features digital inflight entertainment at every seat, absolute lie-flat beds in Business Premier, and a new Premium Economy class.
