Long haul budget carrier AirAsia X has named Nadda Buranasiri as its new group chief executive officer, who takes over from AirAsia’s two co-founders.
Buranasiri replaces co-CEOs Tony Fernandes and Kamarudin Meranun who will become non-executive directors.
Buranasiri has been CEO of Thai AirAsia X since 2014 and was an executive in the music industry prior to this.
The leadership change will help the business ‘continue to grow and work towards creating a sustainable, viable long-haul business for the future,’ said Kamarudin.
Fernandes recently said the long haul AirAsia X units across the region will be restructured into a single group holding company.
The AirAsia X business operates Airbus A330s jets and has placed a big new order for new A330neo wide-body aircraft.
