Home sharing platform Airbnb is prepping a new service offering upscale rentals with hotel-like amenities.
It has been given the tentative ‘Select’ product name, Bloomberg reports, citing unnamed sources and is targeted at higher-paying new customers who usually stay in traditional hotels.
Home rentals selected for the service will be personally inspected to ensure they meet certain quality standards and the service may start within a matter of days, Bloomberg says.
A full rollout will take place by the end of 2017.
Hosts will be given ‘priority placement in a new section for premium places’ according to a communication sent to selected hosts.
They have been chosen based on their ‘reviews for high consistent quality.’
Homes would be assessed for facilities found in most hotels such as working appliances, matching bed linens, single use toiletries and tea and coffee making facilities.
