Airline startup Breeze to fly out of Minneapolis
New airline startup Breeze Aviation pushed back its launch date to mid-2021, and more details have been revealed about its plans.
It is acquiring the operating certificate of recently shuttered Compass Airlines and will be based at Minneapolis-St. Paul International Airport.
It will start flying to cities in the South, Midwest, East Coast and Texas on underserved routes.
It plans to begin scheduled services next year, although it may begin flying as a charter airline before then.
Breeze opened a corporate HQ in founder David Neeleman hometown of Salt Lake City.
It ordered Airbus A220-300 jets but delivery of these has been delayed until next year.
It is also leasing 15 Embraer E-190 jets.
Neeleman established JetBlue more than 20 years ago and also co-founded Brazil’s Azul and WestJet.
