Airlines not pushing for mask mandate extension
US airlines won’t be pushing for another extension of the federal mask mandate when the current one expires next month. Gary Kelly, chairman of Airlines for America said the group doesn’t recommend another extension.
The mandate covers air travel as well as trains, buses and at airports and transportation hubs. A4A supports CDC guidance on masks, which says vaccinated individuals don’t need one but unvaccinated people should wear one.
A large proportion of travelers are now fully vaccinated but the prevalence of the Delta variant means the mandate could well be extended again.
