Airlines rally for shooting victims’ families
The mass shooting last Friday in Aurora, Colorado by a gunman with a mass arsenal of weapons purchased on the Internet, was the worst of its kind in US history.
News has already broken that some hospitals and caregivers are waiving their fees for victims.
Airlines are now joining the ranks of Americans wishing to help the wounded and their families.
United Airlines, with its hub at Denver International, is offering free air travel to family members of victims. The airline has just flown 25 members of victim, Alex Sullivan’s family from Rochester, NY to the funeral in Denver.
Frontier and Southwest are also donating flights to victims’ families.
Michelle Agnew, Southwest’s spokesperson said: "We’re working closely with local partners to accommodate (the families’) needs at this time."
She said the airline would help as many families as needed.
Ticketing is being organized by the Colorado Organization for Victim Assistance.
