Airlines will refund travelers denied boarding after temperature check

Wednesday, 26 Jun, 2020 0

Airlines have vowed to refund passengers denied boarding if they have high temperatures.

Travelers who have an elevated temperature reading will get a refund, trade group Airlines for America said.

They will voluntarily refund passenger with high temperatures as defined by the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) guidelines.

A4A and the airlines will support the TSA managed temperature screenings at airport entrances.

It will provide ‘additional public confidence that is critical to relaunching air travel’ the trade group says.

"As all screening processes for the traveling public are the responsibility of the U.S. government, having temperature checks performed by the TSA will ensure that procedures are standardized providing consistency across airports."

Airlines have made the wearing of face masks mandatory and have made good on their threat to ban anti-maskers.

Passengers have already been banned from future travel on Delta Air Lines, American Airrlines and United.

"So far there have thankfully only been a handful of cases, but we have already banned some passengers from future travel on Delta for refusing to wear masks on board," CEO Ed Bastian told employees in a memo.

American Airlines has banned at least one passenger.

"Parts of the country have seen a resurgence of Covid-19. That’s why it is more important than ever to adhere to the safety and health guidelines we have put in place," Bastion added.
