Alaska Air offers free in-flight chat services

Monday, 9 January 20173 min read
Alaska Airlines is rolling out a host of new in-flight enhancements including free chat to stay in touch at 35,000 feet.
Gogo-equipped planes will offer complimentary iMessage, WhatsApp and Facebook Messenger.
"We’re celebrating the new year – and our new, bigger airline – with the rollout of new customer-friendly enhancements on Alaska-branded flights, starting with Free Chat," said Andrew Harrison, Alaska Airlines’ executive vice president and chief commercial officer.
"We know that staying in touch while on the go is essential to our guests, many of whom don’t need full Internet access."
The service will be fully launched on January 24, and Alaska Air says it is the first and only US airline to offer it for free to all passengers.
Also, through March 31, 2017, it has made available for free its entire collection of movies and TV shows to stream on personal devices.
Beverage options are also being upgraded to include more premium wines, bourbon and craft beer.
Premium Class passengers will also see improvements.
There is an additional four inches of legroom, free snacks and early boarding.
