Alaska Air suspends Unalaska service after fatal PenAir crash

Alaska Airlines suspended regular operations on its Anchorage to Unalaska route and says it won’t likely restart them until at least Tuesday.
It follows a fatal accident at Unnalaska-Dutch Harbor airport which left one passenger dead.
Alaska Air says it hopes to resume flights on Tuesday but has advised all customers to contact the airline first to confirm travel plans.
Last week a PenAir commuter flight carrying 42 people crashed on the runway, killing passenger David Allan Oltman of Washington.
The plane skidded off the runway with 10 other people suffering a variety of injuries.
Unaslaska city spokesperson Marjie Veeder said the airport will remain closed auntil all crash debris is cleared.
A team of investigators from the National Transportation Safety Board are at the scene.
PenAir parent Ravn Air Group said it is cooperating with investigators.
"On behalf of PenAir, Ravn Air Group and all our employees throughout the company, we would like to extend our deepest sympathies and condolences to the family and loved ones of our passenger who passed away," RavnAir Group president Dave Pflieger said.
