Alaska carrier Ravn to be auctioned off

Saturday, 29 Jun, 2020 0

Alaska’s largest commuter airline Ravn will go on the auction block in the next week.

A Delaware judge approved a sale to the highest bidder in full or in part to repay creditors.

Ravn filed for bankruptcy in April.

The date for the auction will be after the July 4 holiday but before July 9 when a court hearing is already scheduled to finalize the sale.

There is no confirmation on likely bidders but the airline says there is much interest.

"Approximately 30 bidders expressed interest in buying all or some of the air group’s assets. Of these, five strategic buyers submitted bids to buy the entire air group," Ravn Air said.

"The outcome of the hearing turned out as we had hoped, and we are excited that our employees, and the many communities we serve will now have a very real opportunity to see Ravn back in the skies," Ravn CEO Dave Pflieger said in a statement.

Southern California commuter service Float Shuttle has come out publicly as an interested bidder.

"It’s definitely our intent to keep Ravn as a going concern. We’re all about service to communities, and we really believe we have the right team," said Rob McKinney, Float Shuttle’s president.
