Almost a quarter of travellers flouted amber list rules
Nearly one-quarter of all travellers coming from amber list countries have broken Covid quarantine requirements a survey by the Office for National Statistics (ONS) found.
It found 23% admitted to not isolating at home for the required 10 days or take day two and day eight PCR tests.
ONS surveyed more than 800 travellers arriving in the UK in mid-July.
Only 59% said they fully understood the rules for amber list inbound travel.
"These figures prove that it is not a watertight system, as has been seen in Australia and Canada, where self-isolation has not worked," Paul Charles, CEO of travel consultancy The PC Agency told the Telegraph.
The survey was fielded just before rules changed on 19 July allowing fully vaccinated people from amber tier countries to skip quarantine.
