Amadeus takes full ownership of German partner
Amadeus is to take full control of its German distribution partner, Start Amadeus.
The GDS has bought the 66 percent stake held by Lufthansa Commercial Holding GmbH for 100 million euros.
Start Amadeus, based near Germany, operates the distribution for 171 tour operators in Germany. It had a turnover of 172.5 million euros in 2001.
Amadeus president and chief executive, Jose Antonio Tazon said Germany was the largest market for Amadeus and of “key stratgeic importance”.
Last week Amadeus blamed market conditions for the bankruptcy of its joint venture technology firm, Atinera.
