Amazon cruise explosion: bodies recovered
The bodies of two crew members missing after an Amazon cruise ship sank in Peru have been recovered.
The Aqua Expeditions ship Aqua Amazon went down following an explosion onboard.
A further three crew and two contractors are still unaccounted for.
More than a dozen more were injured with eight hospitalized.
No passengers were onboard at the time.
“We have been in close contact with families and have been keeping them fully informed of news of their loved ones during this difficult time,” said CEO Francesco Galli Zugaro in a statement.
“Many of the crew have been with me from 2007 when we started. I considered them dear friends, not just employees. The source of the fire and explosion is yet to be determined as preliminary investigations are still underway,” Zugaro said.
