American Airlines is launching direct flights to Tucson, AZ from the Big Apple in the fall.
AA will offer a daily flight between Tucson International Airport and New York City’s JFK beginning October 7.
Before the announcement Tucson was the largest city in the US not to have a direct flight to New York.
"This flight is critical to the growth of our business community and our vibrant tourism sector," Tucson Metro Chamber President and CEO Michael Varney said in a release.
"Making Tucson easy for business and leisure travelers to access from New York City opens the door for more commerce in our region."
Tucson last had direct airlift with New York in 2008.
Tucson Airport is still underused and its last new flight announcement came back in 2011 when Alaska Airlines started flying to Portland, Oregon.
