American travel sentiment remains mixed heading into the final quarter of the year.

The Longwoods International American Travel Sentiment study indicates a mixed bag among travellers in regards to the upcoming holiday travel season with 41% saying they plan on the same amount of travel.

About 32% sayi they are planning fewer trips compared to the Covid-impacted 2020 fall and holiday season.

"Full recovery from the pandemic for the US travel and tourism industry is still a bit further away," said Amir Eylon, President and CEO of Longwoods International.

On the positive side, 27% say they are actually planning more travel this holiday season compared with last year.

It comes as the CDC announces its Holiday Gathering and Travel guidance.

Overall demand for travel from now into early 2022 is strong with 88% of American travellers having plans to travel in the next six months.

In addition, positive news reports of the decline in the overall volume of delta variant cases in the US is helping reverse or stabilize some the recent downward trends in regards to welcoming back visitors to local communities, travelling further afield, and dining and shopping locally.
