A popular Pennsylvania amusement park has decided to bite the bullet and remove a controversial souvenir from a gift store.
Sarah Keller, visiting Dorney Park and Wildwater Kingdom with her children, was horrified the park was selling personalized bullets.
The keepsake offered personal engraving and a leather holder on a keychain, with the words ‘The Right to Keep and Bear Arms.’
"This is not OK. We shouldn’t normalize this," she told lehighvalley.com.
It soon gained traction via a friend who posted it to Twitter.
"Offering kids a bullet with their name on it at an amusement park gift shop is already the most ill-advised thing to happen this summer. Who greenlit this? Imagine a shooting survivor encountering this?" friend Lisa Boswell tweeted.
"I’ve been involved in the gun violence prevention movement for six years and I know that changing the culture around guns is just as important as changing laws. I tweeted hoping Dorney would do the right thing and remove the keychains," Boswell later said.
Once the tweet took off, the park’s Twitter account quickly responded, saying it would pull the bullet souvenirs.
"We ceased offering the merchandise because we believe we can offer our guests products that are more suitable for our family friendly environment," a park statement said.
