Another Carnival ship fails sanitation inspection
The sanitation problems keep continuing for Carnival Cruise Line ships.
The Carnival Liberty is the latest get a failing grade from USPH inspectors for the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention’s Vessel Sanitation Program.
It becomes the line’s fourth ship to fail in the past three months.
While a failing grade is not uncommon it is extremely rare for a major cruise line to have successive failures in a short space of time.
Cruise ships that sail in US waters are subject to an unannounced health inspection twice a year.
A score of 85 or below constitutes a failing grade.
Carnival Liberty scored 80, however this is higher than recent inspections on the Carnival Triumph, Carnival Vista and Carnival Breeze which could only muster scores in the high-70s.
Ships that fail inspections are reinspected to ensure any correction measures have been taken.
During CDC visits, all areas of a ship are monitored, including swimming pool, staterooms, all public areas, dining rooms and food prep areas.
