MELBOURNE – The eBay auction of three Category A cabins on an APT 15-day Magnificent Europe river cruise has raised $39,951.25 for the Victorian Bushfire Appeal.

General manager of APT, Chris Hall, said bidding almost pushed the price to the retail value of $44,940.

APT also donated $50,000 to Australian Red Cross, is matching funds donated by APT staff (currently $13,275) and as a Melbourne-based company is providing two days paid leave to any staff member who wishes to volunteer their time to the relief effort.

More than 50 staff have taken up the volunteer offer.
