In a move that the Airlines Reporting Corporation said revealed the “strength of travel agency sales,” Agents hit a record in their average weekly sales per location in May.
Sales for last May were up 28% over May of last year.
“Record average sales per agency location serve to confirm the value of the travel agent as a strong catalyst to the overall recovery of our industry,” said Kathy Argiropoulos, vp of Travel Agency Services.
She added that despite the decreasing number of travel agency locations, sales volumes reached the highest dollar volume in a four-week month since May of 2000.
