Astraeus to launch flights to Newfoundland
Gatwick-based airline Astraeus is launching a service to St John’s, Newfoundland, Canada, in May.
The route will be the only year-round direct flight between St John’s and London and will operate three times a week on Tuesday, Thursday and Sunday.
“We believe we are in the right place at the right time,” said Astraeus managing director Hugh Parry.
“We have experienced some strong success arising from our ability to identify and service niche routes.
“Our most recent noteworthy new routes are from London-Gatwick and Manchester to Cape Verde. Many of those flights have been full since their instigation last November, and we are expecting similar such interest on both sides of the Atlantic when we launch Gatwick to St John’s,”
Astraeus will initially operate a Boeing 737-700 configured to seat 129 passengers.
The flight will be approximately six hours. The airline will sell seats direct, as well as through travel agents and tour operators. Tickets will be priced from CAN$499.
