Avis plugs into electric cars
Avis is to rent out electric cars from next year in a partnership with Renault.
The French manufacturer aims to progressively introduce four electric vehicles from 2011.
These include two derivatives of existing models – the Renault Fluence ZE to be available in Europe and Israel and the Kangoo Express ZE.
Two new electronic vehicles, a concept car for driving in built-up areas, devised from the Twizy ZE, and the Zoe ZE, due for introduction in 2012 and intended for everyday motoring.
Avis Europe chief executive Pascal Bazin said: "We are delighted to sign this important partnership with Renault to offer electric vehicles as part of our green fleet, which is an increasingly central part of our customer offering.
"Despite the impact of the recession, consumers are just as aware of the issues of climate change and it is only by working together with our partners that we will be able to make a difference."
