A British Airways supervisor has fled overseas after being arrested over a million-pound immigration scam.
Following arrest, he was released but has flown overseas to India.
The unnamed man charged passengers £25,000 for help to them through Heathrow’s Terminal 5 and onto flights to Canada without valid visas.
The 24-year old is said to have earned abut £3million over five years.
It was for travelers mostly from India who arrived into the UK on a temporary visa.
He then helped them by falsely electronic travel authorisation (ETA) details that they didn’t have.
The passengers then applied for asylum in Canada.
Eventually, Canadian officials flagged an unusually high number of asylum claims from BA flights.
He was arrested in January and bailed, and is now reportedly in India.
“He exploited a loophole knowing that immigration checks are no longer carried out by officials but are left to airline staff, a source told The Sun.
“By inputting wrong data, and claiming ETA documents had been secured, he got people to countries they had no permission to enter.”
British Airways said it is ‘assisting the authorities with their investigation.’
