Bamboo Airways suspending South Korea flights
New Vietnam based carrier Bamboo Airways will this week suspend all routes to South Korea.
Scheduled flights from Seoul’s Incheon International Airport to Da Nang and Nha Trang will be halted on February 26 as COVID-19 cases spike across South Korea.
The country has reported more than 750 cases and seven deaths so far.
The airline has been serving Seoul seven times a week from both Vietnam airports with 200-seat Airbus A21neo aircraft.
Further expansion may also have to be pushed back.
"Our plan to open a new route from Hanoi to Incheon this June may have to be suspended, too," an airline spokesperson told Reuters.
South Korea is Vietnam’s second-largest source market after China.
In 2019, Vietnam welcomed 4.3 million South Koreans, which was up 23% on the previous year.
