Base2Stay London offers guests use of electric car
Eco-Friendly Hotel Pioneers Green Guest Benefits
Hot on the heels of Mayor of London Boris Johnson’s wish to see London become ‘the electric capital of Europe’, value boutique hotel base2stay Kensington is showing the way by partnering with eco-friendly vehicle solutions experts Move About. Base2stay is the first hotel group to pioneer the sustainable urban mobility movement in the UK.
Complimenting the hotel’s green credentials, the new initiative at base2stay Kensington provides the perfect inexpensive alternative to tubes, buses, trains and taxis, and a safer substitute to cycling around London. With free or reduced fee parking for electric cars in many London boroughs including Westminster and Kensington & Chelsea, and exemption from steep Congestion Charges, the electric car is a great solution for tourists or business travel.
The only fully electric light passenger vehicle available in the UK, base2stay guests will have exclusive use of base2stay’s own Move About car and charge-point. Built with state-of-the-art electric vehicle technology, the Citroen EV’ie is a safe and comfortable fully featured five person road vehicle with a top speed of 60mph and range of up to 75 miles per charge, making it ideal for inner-city travel.
From the beginning of July to the end of September, guests at the hotel can enjoy free use of the car for the first 4 hours of their first booking. From 1st October rental is just £4 per hour, £20 for half a day (6 hours), £30 for a full weekday and £55 at weekends. With no top-up hassles or congestion charge and free parking, base2stay’s new travel solution for its guests is both eco-friendly and great value for money:
Base2stay founder Robert Nadler comments: “base2stay is very excited about this alliance with Move About. It allows us to pioneer an innovative environmentally-friendly transport offering with one of the market leaders in this field whilst at the same time offering our guests a unique opportunity to test for themselves a cost effective and convenient green car-hire solution.
Hopefully, this will give base2stay’s guests who’ve never driven an electric car before a taste of how much more city-friendly electric cars are than old fashioned petrol vehicles.”
base2say employs a sustainable approach that is enabled through the procedures and policies with which it engages both its staff and guests: base2stay does not waste resources by replicating or creating under-utlilised facilities that are better provided locally; not only does this reduce energy costs and waste, but also means better value is passed on to its guests.
The hotel group has made a long-term commitment to minimising the impact that its operations have on the environment, employing a variety of green policies and procedures including the introduction of Move About to its services.
base2stay was only the second hotel in central London to have received the prestigious Gold Award under the Green Tourism Business Scheme and is an official member of the Considerate Hoteliers Association, in addition to being a member of iStayGreen and Hospitable Climates. The company have recently been awarded VisitBritain’s 5 Star Gold Award, the highest accolade in their Guest Accommodation – Room Only category, April 2010
