Best April ever for London Stansted passenger traffic
London Stansted achieved record volumes for both passengers and cargo during April.
The airport welcomed 2.48 million passengers during the month to record its busiest ever April, beating the previous high set in 2019 by more than 90,000 passengers.
It marked an increase of 5.5% on April 2023.
The 12-month total to the end of April was 28.64 million passengers, an increase of 10.8% on the previous 12-month period.
Operational performance was resilient, with 98% of departing passengers passing through security in 15 minutes or less,
There was an average queue time of three minutes during the main departure peaks.
Gareth Powell, London Stansted’s Managing Director, said: “April was another very strong month thanks to our extensive passenger route network, efficiency and simplicity of the airport’s operation.”
Powell cited the Easter holidays as a particularly busy start to the month.
