Bird strike turns QF flight around
A Qantas jet bound for Melbourne has been forced to return to Adelaide because of a bird strike early today.
A Qantas spokesman said flight 672, a Boeing 737-400, with 132 passengers on board encountered the problem soon after take-off.
“The pilot elected to return to Adelaide in line with standard operating procedure,” he said.
“He requested priority clearance and landed without incident just after 7am (CST).
The spokesman said the jet was being inspected by Qantas engineers.
A replacement aircraft left Adelaide for Melbourne at 8.10am with all passengers on board.
In other news, a Qantas jet was delayed for more than 12 hours in Honolulu last night and has arrived at Sydney having missed connecting flights to Melbourne.
Due to the high traffic to the AFL Grand Final, up to 200 passengers are being advised they may have a further 24 hour delay in Sydney.
