Boeing CEO Muilenburg to waive bonus this year
Boeing boss Dennis Muilenburg will go without a bonus this year at his own request.
Dennis Muilenburg made the suggestion himself after a very difficult year for the plane maker.
Boeing chairman David Calhoun told CNBC the chief executive offered to go without a $13 million bonus which makes up about 80% of his annual compensation.
Muilenburg asked not be awarded any bonuses or equity ‘until the Max in its entirety is back in the air and flying safely.’
Calhoun took over as chairman after Muilenburg was stripped of the position recently.
Muilenburg retains the confidence of the board and has ‘done everything right’ so far amid extremely challenging conditions for the company.
Boeing 737 Max jets remain grounded worldwide with still no definite timeline on when the jet will be permitted to fly again.
Calhoun also told CNBC the company has no plans to rename the 737 Max or further cut the production.
