Plane maker Boeing predicts Chinese airlines will spend more than $1 trillion on new airliners over the next two decades.
It has revised up its previous 2015 estimate from 6,330 aircraft to a total of 6,810.
That works out at about $1.025 trillion in orders.
"The continuing expansion of China’s middle class, coupled with new visa policies and a wide range of widebody airplanes… gives us every reason to expect a very bright future for China’s long-haul market," said Randy Tinseth, Boeing vice president of marketing in a statement.
Tinseth said Boeing expects air traffic growth to rise about 6.4% in China annually over the next 20 years.
China’s tourism authorities last week predicted a record 133 million Chinese citizens will take overseas trips by the end of 2016.
