A British man killed in a severe turbulence incident on a Singapore Airlines flight has been named.
He was identified as Geoffrey Kitchen, 73 from Gloucestershire.
He suffered a heart attack during the severe turbulence.
Dozens of passengers were injured with six in a critical condition.
It happened as the Singapore bound flight from London passed over Myanmar.
It immediately changed course to divert to Bangkok.
Singapore Airlines said 18 people were taken to hospital.
There were a reported 71 people with various injuries, including cabin crew.
Most were cuts and bruises but some included broken limbs and serious injuries.
The Boeing 777-300ER was carrying a total of 211 passengers and 18 crew.
There were 47 British passengers onboard.
“Our priority is to provide all possible assistance to all passengers and crew on board the aircraft. We are working with the local authorities in Thailand to provide the necessary medical assistance,” the airline said.
Singapore’s Ministry of Transport said it was investigating the incident and is in touch with aviation safety authorities in Thailand.
