British man detained in Thailand after deadly altercation
A violent altercation between two foreigners in Thailand has left a Japanese man dead and a Brit facing possible murder or manslaughter charges.
The suspect was identified as Mr. David, 36, who is a British-Thai national.
He was arguing with his girlfriend in Pattaya when the Japanese national, Seita Tanabe, 27, intervened, according to witnesses, per local media reports.
It quickly escalated and the Japanese man died of a knife wound.
The incident was witnessed by onlookers.
David was escorted to hospital suffering various injuries and at some point, the victim’s friends confronted the suspect at the hospital.
They had to be restrained by police.
No charges against David have been filed yet with the investigation still ongoing.
