A British man is facing a possible lengthy prison term after authorities claimed he presented a false Covid test certificate when checking in for his flight home to the UK.
A 39-year old was arrested at Lodz Airport, Poland after allegedly falsifying his Covid test to negative after testing positive.
"He stated he wanted to return home as soon as possible, hence he changed the test printout from a ‘positive’ to ‘negative’ mark, which allowed him to board a plane to the East Midlands," said airport spokesperson Dagmara Bielec-Janas.
If charged and found guilty, he could face up to 10 years in prison.
He could also be banned from visiting Schengen countries for up to five years.
The man had shown proof of vaccination three days earlier when arriving in Poland.
