Canadian airlines close to agreeing billion-dollar bailout package
The Canadian government is close to concluding a deal with airlines for a bailout worth billions. Talks have focused on bailout package worth about $7 billion but this could be higher, says a union leader privy to the discussions.
Jerry Dias, national president of Unifor reckons a package would be worth about $9 billion and a deal could be imminent. The government and airline reps have been in ‘contentious and difficult’ discussions for several weeks.
