Carnival Cruise Line has launched Carnival Journeys – a new program of longer cruises beginning in the fall.

It is a series of nine- to 15-day cruises throughout the Caribbean, Central America, Hawaii and Mexico featuring new shipboard activities.

A total of 28 sailings will make 40 ports of call, including several less visited destinations including Tobago, Grenada, La Paz, Martinique, Bonaire and Ixtapa.

New activities offered include ‘Authentic Eats’ – with cooking demonstrations by local chefs.

‘Local-tainment’ showcases local dance and music such as calypso, soca and Goombay, while the ‘Academy of Fun’ offers a host of educational workshops in diverse subjects from cooking and arts and crafts to digital photography and social media.

Carnival Journeys cruises also offer the chance for guests to learn more about shipboard life with Q&A sessions with the ship’s captain, cruise director, hotel director and other crew members.

"We have received a tremendous amount of feedback from our guests and travel agent partners about the importance of consistently offering new Carnival cruise experiences," said Carnival president Christine Duffy.

Carnival Journeys sailings include an 11-night Eastern Caribbean cruise on Carnival Dream from New Orleans departing October 4, an 11-night Southern Caribbean cruise on Carnival Triumph from Galveston to San Juan leaving October 24, and a 15-night Hawaii cruise from Los Angeles on October 17.
