Channel Islands move by Hoseasons
Self-catering operator Hoseasons is introducing holidays in the Channel Islands in 2007 for the first time in its 60 year history.
The breaks in Jersey and Guernsey feature as part of the operator’s 2007 Lodges and Parks in Britain brochure, with 13 holiday complexes offering apartment and cottage-style accommodation.
Hoseasons business development director Pali Badwal said: “Until now self-catering holidays in the Channel Islands have not been well represented in the trade.
“We see this as a massive opportunity to promote a destination that has not always received the support from other operators – which its diversity of holidays certainly justifies. We will be looking to really push our new Channel Island breaks through all our agents which will give them another opportunity to sell additional holidays from the Hoseasons range.”
Product director Sara Zimmerman said: “The Channel Islands is a key opportunity for growth and was an obvious gap in our portfolio. Hoseasons is well placed to drive significant sales volume to the islands.
“Although both islands are already well known as family holiday destinations with fantastic beaches, they have a great deal more to offer the UK holiday maker. With great walking, cycling, food, history and culture on offer, the Channel Islands make a great year round destination for short breaks and longer holidays.
“With low cost flights now available from most regional airports across the UK, as well as ferries from the south coast, the islands are more accessible than ever before and we expect demand to be strong. In fact we are already in discussions to expand our launch programme.”
Jersey’s tourism and marketing director David de Carteret welcomed the move, saying: “The island will not only receive a high profile from the Hoseasons’ massive trade brochure distribution but will also reap the benefits of its market leading position and brand marketing strengths.”
Guernsey commerce and employment member, Deputy Mike O’Hara, said: “This is a great opportunity for Guernsey to work with the UK’s leading self-catering operator. The Island will undoubtedly benefit as a result of featuring in Hoseasons impressive 2007 portfolio.”
