Check out TripAdvisor’s top 25 travel destinations
This week TripAdvisor, the world’s largest travel review site, revealed its 2015 Travellers’ Choice awards, which lists the top 25 travel destinations in the world, as voted for by its users. Marrakech topped the list, while London came in at number 6 and Cape Town rounded up the top 10. Goreme in Turkey; Ubud in Indonesia and Cusco in Peru took places 14, 15 and 16 respectively and were among some of the more unexpected destinations on the list. If you’re looking for some holiday inspiration then this list is definitely for you!

It seems there are no lengths we won’t go to in the name of capturing a good photo. A group of thrill seeking tourists in southern Norway have been spotted snapping jaw dropping photos atop the Kjeragbolten boulder  which sits 3,500ft above sea level. The boulder has an 800ft drop and is wedged between two rocks. In what may be the most dangerous set of holiday snaps ever taken. A path on one side of the mountain is used to reach the top of the slippery boulder, for a stunning view of Lysefjord. While the resulting images really are amazing and we love an Instagram opp, we don’t know if we will be rushing replicate them any time soon.

We have thoroughly enjoyed following #MuseumWeek on social media this week. A global celebration of culture on Twitter, the busy hashtag has had us yearning for some overseas trips to take in the art, architecture, history and more. Each day has had its own hashtag to inspire the posts, such as #inspirationMW, #familyMW and #souvenirsMW and it will be rounded off on Sunday with #poseMW, encouraging visitors to share their museum selfies. The dedicated website also features this great tracker of all of the tweets and a fun map that shows where in the world people are getting engaged with the activity.

Facebook has introduced a new feature which allows users to ‘travel back in time’ to previous events – provided of course that we posted them on Facebook. Although this was kicked off by apps such as Timehop, there will now be the option to go back and edit or delete embarrassing posts from university years or our 2006 fashion disasters. More importantly, for those of us who love to post smug holiday snaps from a beach in Thailand, a European city break or a trek in the Amazon, we will now be able to relive those magical travelling moments by sharing these posts with our friends once again. Aside from the obvious jealousy, here at Siren we’re all for our Facebook feeds being full of lovely white sands and tropical jungles to brighten up our day!

And finally, this week we attended the CLIA Cruise Journalism Awards at the rather fabulous Ham Yard Hotel. We’re thrilled for all of the winners and their well-deserved awards but especially the lovely Lucy Dodsworth! One of our Celebrity Cruises #DestinationBloggers, Lucy took away the award for Best Contribution to Social Media for her activity during her first ever cruise holiday and her blog post ‘A first-time cruise in the Eastern Mediterranean‘. Well done Lucy!
