Taiwan based China Airlines (CAL) will relocate operations at the new Terminal One at New York JFK International Airport next year.
President Kevin Chen traveled to New York this week to mark the partnership in a ceremony.
China Airlines sees this as a key milestone in the development of its New York route.
The Taoyuan – New York route has been operating for more than 40 years and serves as a key hub in the carrier’s North America strategy.
The New Terminal One at JFK, which is being constructed, will house new a check in area, security checkpoints, shopping and dining venues.
Sustainable design features are being incorporated including the largest solar panel system of any US airport terminal, as well as 100% electric-powered ground service equipment.
CAL now flies to six North America gateway cities – New York, Los Angeles, Ontario, CA, San Francisco, and Seattle, as well as Vancouver, Canada.
It operates more than 40 round-trip flights a week to the US.
