A Chinese airline pilot has been praised for landing a plane ‘blind’ after a China Southern Airlines plane was battered by a strong hailstone storm.
The plane landed safely in Chengdu despite the cockpit windshield being shattered by the hailstones making it virtually impossible to see out.
Images relesed also showed significant damage to the nose cone.
The plane was travelling from Guangzhou when it encountered the severe weather.
All passengers were able to deplane normally with no injuries or internal damage to the aircraft reported.
