CHTA tracking all Caribbean reopenings
The Caribbean – one region, dozens of jurisdictions.
The Caribbean is gradually opening up again after a months-long Covid-19 hibernation but each nation has its own unique set of protocols.
Where and when can I travel, do I need a Covid-test, do I have to quarantine, and what attractions are open are just some of queries would-be vacationers need definitive answers to.
The Caribbean Hotel and Tourism Association aims to cut out the imponderables for travelers with the recently launched Caribbean travel advisory tracker.
Updated on a daily basis, the tracker outlines when airports and seaports are opening, if pre-departure Covid tests or quarantine are required, and what if any, health declaration documents are needed.
Where appropriate, each Caribbean nation’s phased reopening timeline is detailed, with scheduled dates earmarked for the gradual easing of restrictions.
It also highlights specific zones where hotels have reopened, if restaurants, beaches and other tourism businesses are open and what measure are in force.
It covers all nations, US and overseas territories from The Bahamas, Jamaica, Puerto Rico, Martinique, Guyana and Bermuda.
"Before the pandemic, the industry worldwide maintained a growth tendency that had lasted for nearly a decade. The impact has been severe and our region is not an exception. The losses are considerable and it is estimated that they will continue to increase," said Frank Comito, CEO of the CHTA.
