Travel comparison site Hotelly.com has predicted the end of the staycation phenomenon for Brits who are hacked off with the barbecue summer that failed to appear this year.
The site says it has seen a 41% spike in bookings in October for beach destinations as users go in search of some autumnal sunshine.
Hotelly.com director Vishal Jain said: “In the past few weeks, our site has seen a large amount of users searching for pre-Christmas beach holidays. This is a direct result of Brits taking a staycation in the summer and, quite frankly, being let down by the weather. For a lot of people, it was a lousy summer and they want to make up for it now. We expect this to continue well into the New Year.”
