Convention-goers might want own World Series
With the World Series underway, convention-goers might like to know they can meet at the 511-room Omni San Diego. PETCO Park is the only US hotel attached to a ballpark — in this case, the San Diego Padres baseball team, which won’t be in the series this year.
Reports are the hotel is looking at ways to provide groups staying there a chance to meet in an unusual venue: the Visitor’s Clubhouse.
“It’s a totally unique space and attendees can go from our ballrooms on the fourth floor directly to the clubhouse via a sky bridge,” said Patsy Bock in the hotel’s sales and marketing department.
The Visitor’s Clubhouse is not just a showroom but “more like a plush executive conference facility complete with personal closet space,” says Meetings & Conventions Magazine.
“We can have conference tables decked out with Padres-branded materials and personalized jerseys hanging at the lockers,” said Bock.
The Omni’s “Grand Slam for Groups” package offers an insider’s tour of the stadium.
The hotel has a total of 27,000 square feet of meeting space, including a divisible ballroom with just under 10,000 square feet.
Outside the US, The Rogers Centre in Toronto, Ontario, Canada is home to the Toronto Blue Jays of major league baseball fame and the Toronto Argonauts of the Canadian Football League. The 348-room hotel can also accommodate meeting groups, trade fairs and other group events.
It has 148,000 square feet of meeting space.
