Costa cuts rates to mark 60th birthday
Discounts of up to 20% on selected 2008 sailings are being made by Costa Cruises as it marks its 60th anniversary.
The Italian company’s first passenger ship set sail from Genoa bound for South America on March 31, 1948.
Itineraries being offered with the special anniversary discount include an 11-night cruise around the Baltic Sea on Costa Marina, departing July 28 costing £1,007.20 per person, down from £1,489; a seven-night sailing to Sweden, Finland, Russia and Estonia on Costa Victoria, departing August 3, costing £899.20, down from £1,089; and a nine-day cruise to Italy, Malta and Tunisia onboard Costa Marina, departing September 24, costing £631.20, down from £1,169. All are cruise-only rates.
Passengers booking these cruises will have a special captain’s cocktail reception with archive footage covering the highlights of the Costa Cruises story.
There is also a gala dinner featuring a traditional dish from the past and commemorative cake.
Passengers will also be presented with a “60th anniversary cruise†certificate.
