Covid-19 surge forces Hong Kong Disneyland to close again
Hong Kong Disneyland will close its doors once again after a surge in local Covid-19 cases prompted officials to tighten restrictions.
"As required by the government and health authorities in line with prevention efforts taking place across Hong Kong, Hong Kong Disneyland park will temporarily close from July 15, 2020," it said in a statement.
On Monday the HK government announced 52 new coronavirus cases.
The park only reopened in mid-June after a four-month closure.
Disney said resort hotels will remain open ‘with adjusted levels of services.’
"Enhanced health and safety measures that reflect the guidance of health and government authorities have been put in place, such as social distancing measures and increased cleaning and sanitisation."
It marks a contrast to Disney’s reopening of Walt Disney World in Florida which started welcoming guests again despite a record surge in Covid-19 cases across the Sunshine State.
