Cherry Blossom season is one of the most beautiful times of the year to visit Washington, D.C., and Odyssey III offers unsurpassed views of the blooming blossoms. Odyssey III is one of Washington, D.C.’s most elegant passenger cruise ships, known for its unmatched ambiance, ever-changing views, live entertainment and up-close views of the cherry blossom trees.

“Some of our most popular cruises are the ones that take place during The National Cherry Blossom Festival,” said David Johnson, sales and marketing coordinator for Odyssey III. “During this time of year approximately 3,000 cherry blossom trees are simultaneously in bloom and the views are absolutely breathtaking. People travel from across the world to see the cherry blossoms and many people love Odyssey because our all-glass ship offers unique views unavailable anywhere else. ”

The 2008 Cherry Blossom Festival marks the 96th celebration of the original gift of the trees from Tokyo to the people of Washington, D.C. in 1912. The Festival, which runs from March 29 – April 13, 2008, celebrates the gift of the 3,000 cherry blossom trees that were originally given to enhance the growing friendship between the United States and Japan. During this time the city offers a range of activities and events surrounding The National Cherry Blossom Festival and the blooming of the trees.

As part of the celebration Odyssey will be hosting regular lunch cruises offering up-close views of the cherry blossoms as well as a special Cherry Blossom Gala Dinner cruise on April 9. Guests will pass by the cherry blossoms that line the Potomac River while enjoying a four-course dinner, live entertainment and dancing in glass atrium dining rooms with unmatched views of the nation’s greatest monuments. The Gala cruise requires cocktail attire and runs from 7:00 p.m. – 10:00 p.m. Tickets are for sale to the public and are $125 per person.
