Cruise ship fire injures three crew members
A fire broke out on the China cruise ship which was docked in South Korea, and injured three members of the ship’s crew.
They were treated for smoke inhalation.
The Adora Mediterranea was docked in Jeju Island South Korea, when the fire broke out early on Wednesday.
The Jeju Coast Guard reported that the alarm was raised as smoke was seen emerging from the ship.
Fire crews arrived and it was quickly extinguished.
The Coast Guard said it damaged an area of around 50 sqm in and around the machine room.
The cause of the fire is being investigated.
The ship was carrying over 3,100 guests and crew at the time.
It had departed from Tianjin, China, and was scheduled to depart later on Wednesday for Fukuoka.
However, the Coast Guard said the fire may delay its departure from Jeju due to a full assessment pending by marine safety officers.
The ship previously sailed for Costa Cruises as the Costa Mediterranea.
