Cunard Line president Carol Marlow is replacing Nigel Esdale as managing director of P&O Cruises.
Esdale is moving to take up a senior commercial role within parent company Carnival UK as part of a wide-ranging management reshuffle.
He takes the new position of commercial director Carnival UK responsible for the commercial management of P&O Cruises, Cunard, Ocean Village and Princess Cruises in the UK.
Giles Hawke, sales and customer services director, will report to Esdale.
Carnival UK chief commercial officer Peter Shanks succeeds Marlow as president and managing director of Cunard while also retaining responsibility for Princess Cruises in the UK.
Ocean Village managing director Nick Lighton takes up the additional position of fleet product and services director Carnival UK prior to the OV brand being phased out after the end of next summer. Product services director Neal Martin will report to Lighton who will also retain responsibility for the air department of Carnival UK.
A number of other changes within the organisation were also unveiled to staff today by Carnival UK chief executive David Dingle.
The top level reshuffle comes as employees prepare to move into a single new-build headquarters close to the port of Southampton from a series of offices dotted around the city.
Dingle told TravelMole that it was always good to "evolve and reshape" the organisation by having "different pairs of eyes on different business issues".
He admitted there would be cost savings to be made as part of the senior revamp but there would be no more job changes affecting the company’s 1,100 staff other than different reporting lines.
Dingle said Esdale was the best person to take the commercial role as Carnival UK places a strong emphasis on revenue generation across the brands.
Meanwhile, Marlow and Shanks would become the faces of the two key brands within the organisation and externally to the trade and customers with the eventual phasing out of Ocean Village and the addition of Azura for P&O Cruises and Queen Elizabeth for Cunard in 2010.
“Carnival UK is privileged to have a group of highly talented senior managers who are the most experienced in the British cruise industry and are able easily to adapt to new roles and challenges as our company continues to grow," Dingle said.
Other changes see John Marden, previously fleet services director, take up the new position of director of corporate andinternational Affairs, with a wide-ranging set of responsibilities including port and infrastructure development, shore programmes, fleet management development in Carnival Australia, risk management, medical and public health management and industry representation.
David Strawford, previously head of technical services, joins the board as marine and technical director responsible for all marine, technical, programming, security, environmental and safety matters.
