Curfews lifted on Thai destinations

Tuesday, 1 June 20103 min read

Bangkok’s night-time curfew has been relaxed and the Foreign Office has downgraded its warnings about Britons travelling to the Thai capital.

The curfew was lifted along with those on 23 other Thai provinces.

However, there is still a state of emergency in Bangkok and some other provinces and Brits are warned to steer clear of any demonstrations or large gatherings.

Popular tourist destination Chiang Mai is also highlighted as a possible area of trouble. The southern areas of Pattani, Songkhla, Yala and Narathiwat are still off limits, with the Foreign Office advising against all but essential travel to these areas.
