Cyprus tightens Covid restrictions

Travellers to Cyprus must now produce a negative PCR Covid test taken within 48 hours of departure.
Tighter restrictions for inbound travellers are now in force to stop the spread of Covid, especially the Omicron variant.
The new rule is for all arrivals over 12 years of age, regardless of vaccination status.
In addition, all arrivals, except those who have received a booster shot, must also undergo rapid antigen tests 72 hours after arrival in Cyprus.
On Tuesday Cyprus recorded a new daily record of 5,457 Covid cases.
Health Minister Michalis Hadjipantelas said Omicron is now the dominant strain, accounting for about 80% of new cases.
Masks are mandatory for everyone from six years old in public areas.
