D-Day over airport strike action

Monday, 16 August 20103 min read

A meeting to avert the impending strike at BAA’s six UK airports will take place at midday today.

Conciliation service Acas confirmed that it would be hosting the talks between the BAA and Unite, the union representing BAA staff, at an undisclosed location.

A BAA spokesman said: "We hope that we can quickly conclude an agreement, in the interests of the travelling public, our airlines and our staff, the majority of whom did not vote for a strike."
